I believe I started playing golf around 2009, during my first year as a working professional. It all began with a company tournament, which used to be common in Japanese trading companies, although they’ve become less frequent recently. At the time, it was an unspoken rule for younger employees to participate, and at first, I didn’t enjoy it at all.

However, having a background in sports, my desire to “get better” led me to start taking lessons at a nearby driving range. As I practiced, I gradually improved and began to truly enjoy golf. I was very dedicated until around 2017, but after changing jobs and with my family growing, I hardly played at all after that.

Then, in January 2025, I started a solo assignment in Aichi Prefecture and picked up golf again. I’ve come to enjoy it once more. Now, at 39, golf is especially appealing because it’s easy on the body while also helping me stay active.
